Fear
It has been a hot moment since I have written a blog. I can totally say that I’ve been so busy with our son’s high school graduation, planning his grad party, and our youngest being promoted from elementary to middle school—oh, not to mention planning our wedding! So yes, I have been busy. But truthfully, that’s not the real reason for my lack of writing.
The truth is… I haven’t written because I felt fearful.
While sitting in church, our pastor had us turn to 2 Timothy 1-8, and as we read, verse 7 hit me hard:
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but one of power, love, and sound judgment.” —2 Timothy 1:7 (CSB)
Read that again… God has not given us the spirit of fear!
So if He didn’t give it to us, where on earth did it come from?
If you answered satan, you’d be correct.
You see, by inviting fear into my life, I stepped out from the protection of God—and that, my friend, is when things tend to get a little ugly. But now that I realize I allowed fear in, how do I get it out?
You turn to God.
You repent.
You ask for forgiveness.
And just like that—He restores you.
The timing of writing about fear is kind of perfect, considering the hot mess our world seems to be in. Or is it?
Holy Spirit, You always know where to take us.
God put this on my heart to write, and I believe it’s meant to help someone. I’ve seen the headlines. I’ve heard the noise. But then I’m reminded of Romans 13:1:
“Let everyone submit to the governing authorities, since there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are instituted by God.” —Romans 13:1 (CSB)
So what does that mean? That means God placed all our local, county, state, and national leaders where they are—for His reasons, even if we don’t understand them.
And guess what?
It’s not our job to carry the weight of the world. That’s God’s job.
It’s not our job to fix political systems. That’s not what we’re called to do.
Our job is to pray for our leaders, and trust that the God who appointed them is still in control.
“You are going to hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not alarmed, because these things must take place, but the end is not yet.” —Matthew 24:6 (CSB)
Have faith, not fear.
God gave us power, love, and sound judgment—not fear. So fear? Get out of here, we belong to Jesus!
All my love-Jane
